Coral Reefs Threatened by Human Activities -
Coral reefs are home to more than a quarter of all known fish species, yet they occupy less than one percent of the earth's environment.Over development and over fishing, among other human activities, are putting the coral reefs at great risk.
World Resources Institute (WRI), just came out with their report Reefs at Risk Revisited. The report is a comprehensive assessment of the status and threats to the world's coral reefs. It also includes an assessment of climate related threats. And like its decade earlier predecessor, Reefs at Risk, this report evaluates threats posed on the reefs from a myriad of human activity.
