Cuba is known in part for its diversity of molluscs -- some 3,000 species, and is often referred to as the paradise of snails. But most people think only of the colorful tree snails, Polymita.
However it seems that some 42 known species of generally ignored freshwater snails are currently under threat. A report in Tropical Conservation Science, written in part by Mongabay's, Rhett Butler, hopes to draw attention to their plight.
